About Me

Hi there, I'm Rachel.

I'm a British born and raised translator, translating and localising from French to English.

 

The mother of two (and the wife of one Frenchman), I lived in France for fourteen years, until my family relocated to sunny Tenerife.

Translating professionally since 2017, I've worked on all kinds of projects big and small, from legal contracts and medical texts to video games and newsletters. I enjoy the challenge of working on various types of texts, although I do have a special partiality for localising video games.

Before becoming a translator I worked as a Business English Teacher in various businesses in North France (including Toyota, St Gobain and Sirops Guiot).

Long before that, my other professional experience was in casinos where I worked on land and sea for thirteen years in different roles from trainee croupier to casino manager on a cruise ship.

 

A love of words, which has stayed with me, led me to study literature and creative writing at university.
